چکیده

We consider the problem of representing size information in the edges and vertices of a planar graph. Such information can be used, for example, to depict a network of computers and information traveling through the network. We present an efficient linear-time algorithm which draws edges and vertices of varying 2-dimensional areas to represent the amount of information flowing through them. The algorithm avoids all occlusions of nodes and edges, while still drawing the graph on a compact integer grid. Article Type Communicated by Submitted Revised regular paper J. Bar 1-Visibility Graphs and their relation to other Nearly Planar Graphs

A graph is called a strong ( resp. weak) bar 1-visibility graph if its vertices can be represented as horizontal segments (bars) in the plane so that its edges are all (resp. a subset of) the pairs of vertices whose bars have a -thick vertical line connecting them that intersects at most one other bar. We explore the relation among weak (resp. strong) bar 1-visibility graphs and other nearly pl...

Simultaneous Drawing of Planar Graphs with Right-Angle Crossings and Few Bends

Given two planar graphs that are defined on the same set of vertices, a RAC simultaneous drawing is a drawing of the two graphs where each graph is drawn planar, no two edges overlap, and edges of one graph can cross edges of the other graph only at right angles. In the geometric version of the problem, vertices are drawn as points and edges as straight-line segments. It is known, however, that...

On the M-polynomial of planar chemical graphs

Let $G$ be a graph and let $m_{i,j}(G)$, $i,jge 1$, be the number of edges $uv$ of $G$ such that ${d_v(G), d_u(G)} = {i,j}$. The $M$-polynomial of $G$ is $M(G;x,y) = sum_{ile j} m_{i,j}(G)x^iy^j$. With $M(G;x,y)$ in hands, numerous degree-based topological indices of $G$ can be routinely computed. In this note a formula for the $M$-polynomial of planar (chemical) graphs which have only vertices...

Drawing with Fat Edges

In this paper, we introduce the problem of drawing with “fat” edges. Traditionally, graph drawing algorithms represent vertices as circles and edges as closed curves connecting the vertices. In this paper we consider the problem of drawing graphs with edges of variable thickness. The thickness of an edge is often used as a visualization cue, to indicate importance, or to convey some additional ...
